Newly released estimates from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show traffic fatalities reached its highest number since 2005 last year. The report revealed an estimated 42,915 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes last year — over 3,600 of which occurred in California.
At Hanning & Sacchetto, LLP, our Whittier auto accident attorneys know firsthand how these crashes impact families across the country, and in The Golden State. Unfortunately, whether these crashes are caused by distracted, speeding, or impaired drivers, most of the fatal crashes on our California roadways are preventable.
When the most recent figures were released, an NHTSA spokesperson stated, “This crisis on our roads is urgent and preventable. We will redouble our safety efforts, and we need everyone — state and local governments, safety advocates, automakers, and drivers — to join us. All our lives depend on it.”
Our Los Angeles County personal injury lawyers could not agree more.
